That one night of the year when people who don't normally stay up late stay up late.

When people who don't normally drink a lot end up drinking a lot.

And when people who don't normally stay up late and drink stay up late and drink then drive home.

Have fun with that. I'll be in bed by 12:01. It just ain't worth the trouble.

I don't ever go out on New Years Eve, not worth the risk. I don't want to be killed because some idiot is too numb to think hey I should get a cab.

Normally I can't get excited by NYE. It's a bit 'meh, fireworks, I've seen fireworks'. This year, something actually new.

Revellers will be able to watch the fireworks and "taste" the atmosphere

Revellers celebrating the New Year in central London will be able to "taste" the atmosphere with flavoured mist, "snow" and confetti released.

About 150,000 people are expected to attend the annual fireworks display on the banks of the River Thames.

Clouds of apple and cherry mist and peach snow will be released into the air and people will also get scratch 'n' sniff programmes and fruit sweets.

I'll be celebrating midnight with a final sip of my Geritol and a pair of claps that turn off the lights.

I still remember when as a teen I was going home from a New Year Party, with both my windows opened because (still dunno why) I was feeling a little drowsy... and that drowsiness disappeared at once, when a red firework entered my righ window, passed one inch from my nose ed exited through the left window. Actually unforgettable. I swear that was the last time I drove my car on a New Year's night.

yeah NYE loses it's luster after a while. I'll be asleep when 2014 turns over as I'm headed here first thing in the morning

There's a cabin tucked in behind that group of pines up front. Snowmobiles will be the preferred mode of transport.

I'm usually up to at least midnight, if not later. I work a shift that doesn't end until 9:15, so I usually don't get home until almost 10. That being said, I usually go to bed before midnight on NYE just because. I'm not a party or people person, and I hate all off the content of the NYE shows.

Ya know, I dont think I could call that one "amateur." It looks like he caught that pole damn near center. That's the work of a Professional, my friend. An amateur would have offset the hit, flinched, if you will. He would have veered to one side or the other in a last ditch effort to avoid the blow. But the Professional stays the course; doesn't even twitch. He knows that Prancing Pony is lined up straight and he keeps it there, right to the end. This was not the work of an amateur. This shining example of dedication, precision, and mastery of control was certainly the work of a Professional.
